In Small Scale Mining sector some minerals were being granted through applications instead of open auction.
Open Competition never held in Large Scale Mining Sector
Applications for grant of prospecting licenses were pending since the year 2001.
Grant of some minerals through application involved discretion & malpractices.
Issued Order and stopped all contracts through applications and, instead, started awarding contracts through Open Competitions to the highest bidder only
By this action, around 1040 applications for different mineral bearing areas, which were lying idle for decades will be put into open auctions, injecting Billions of Rupees, depending upon the bids received, into state exchequer.
