Director General, Mines & Minerals, Punjab participated in an interactive session on 07.07.2026 organized by the Punjab Board of Investment & Trade (PBIT) with H.E. Stetson Sanders, Consul General of the United States in Lahore, to discuss investment opportunities and the future of Punjab’s mineral sector.
During the session, the Director General presented a comprehensive overview of the Mines & Minerals Department, highlighting its mandate, regulatory framework, ongoing reforms, and strategic vision for promoting sustainable mineral development across the province. The presentation also showcased Punjab’s rich and diverse mineral resources, emphasizing the immense potential for responsible exploration, value addition, and long-term investment.
The discussion focused on opportunities for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in priority minerals, particularly rock salt, coal, bauxite, and iron ore, while also exploring prospects for public-private partnerships, modern mining technologies, and international collaboration. Participants exchanged views on strengthening cooperation with U.S. companies in areas such as advanced mining equipment, technical expertise, innovation, and capacity building to support the modernization of Punjab’s mining industry.
The interactive session reaffirmed the Government of Punjab’s commitment to fostering a transparent, investor-friendly, and competitive business environment. By encouraging international partnerships and adopting global best practices, the province aims to unlock the full potential of its mineral resources, attract sustainable investment, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to long-term economic growth.
