Samia Saleem, Additional Secretary, Mines and Minerals Department chaired a consultative meeting in her office with the stakeholders regarding the amendments in the Punjab Mining Concession Rules, 2002 and drafting of Punjab Mines and Minerals Regulation Act 2021. Meeting was attended by prominent lessees, mining association representatives, Chief Inspectorate of Mines, Deputy Secretary (Technical) and Directors of the Directorate General Mines & Minerals. The meeting focused on taking measures for facilitating investors and creating a business friendly environment by revisiting existing rules. The representatives of public/private sector apprised the chair that prior to submit their input on proposed amendments, they have to discuss with the Licensing Authorities to develop a consensus and requested for a short time for doing the needful. The chair advised to complete the task on top priority without any further loss of time.
