Rescue

The rescue service is operational since 1983 to handle mine emergencies and to provide rescue facilities to the mine workers trapped in underground mines as well as open quarries and to provide recovery services. The rescue stations are as follows:

Mines Rescue & Safety Station, Khushab

Mines Rescue & Safety Station, Khushab is headed by Rescue Superintendent, a qualified Mining Engineer and assisted by two Rescue Instructors who are also Mining Engineers. The project commenced in 1975 and was completed in 1983 at a total cost of PKR 7.907 million having a foreign exchange component of PKR 2.380 million. The main objectives and benefits for the establishment of this station are:

  • To provide prompt rescue facilities to the persons involved in accidents or disasters in mines
  • To train rescue teams at different mines and to help these teams during the emergencies at the mines
  • To hold refresher courses for teams employed by individual mine owners
  • To hold periodical exercises in mines and to acquaint workers with the changing conditions of the mines because of development work
  • To hold tests of competency in Rescue Operations and to grant certificates to the successful persons
  • The Mines Rescue & Safety Station is not only engaged in attending emergency calls but is also heavily engaged in training of Mining Engineers, Mining Supervisors and Mine Workers by holding Regular Rescue and Refresher Courses.

The Central Mines Rescue & Safety Station is situated at Khushab which also monitors the activities of the following 5 Mines Rescue & Safety Sub Station.

 

  1. Mines Rescue & Safety Sub- Station, Makerwal, District Mianwali.

  2. Mines Rescue & Safety Sub- Station, Choa Saiden Shah, District Chakwal.

  3. Mines Rescue & Safety Area Sub- Station, Munara, District Chakwal

  4. Mines Rescue & Safety Area Sub- Station, Ara Basharat, District Chakwal

  5. Rescue Squad, Pull-111, District Sargodha.

These projects are headed by qualified Mining Engineers having the rank of Rescue Instructors. The main objectives of the stations are as under:
